NEGROS ORIENTAL, Aug. 12 (PIA) - Secretary of Interior and Local Government (SILG) Eduardo Ano will lead the kick-off of the provincial dialogue and covenant signing of "Dagyawan sa Barangay" on August 14 at Negros Oriental Convention Center, Dumaguete City.
This developed after the creation of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Group (PTF-ELCAC) will undertake "Dagyawan sa Barangay" thru Talakayan ng Mamamayan to tackle local issues at the local level.
This is a series of Open Government and Participatory Governance Townhall Meetings that provide avenues for productive, valuable, sincere and visible engagement between the government and the citizens at the grassroots level to ensure access to frontline government services and vital programs and projects.
Ano is expected of give a message of commitment as chair of the Participatory Governance Cluster- Open Government Partnership (PGC-OGP) during the program.
This will be followed by a ceremonial signing of commitment of support "Dagyaw Covenant" by national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, and religious sector.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, Greg Fernandez Jr. of NEGORNET, and Most Rev. Bishp Julio Cortes of Archdiocese of Dumaguete are also expected to give their messages of support.
Immediately after the event, a press conference will be done with national, regional and provincial officials.
"Dagyaw" is a Hiligaynon word for "bayanihan," which exemplifies the concept of "togetherness".
The Dagyaw dialogues will also serve as a mechanism for citizen engagement in programs related to frontline service delivery such as health, education, housing, electricity, and infrastructure, as well as anti-corruption efforts of the government. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
